Sharjah24: To coincide with the International Mountain Day, on Friday, Sharjah Sports Council launched the activities of the "Khorfakkan Mountain Challenge" in its second edition, with the participation of both categories of citizens and residents.
Yasser Omar Al Dokhi, Director of the Sports and Community Events Department at the Council, announced the participation of about 150 participants in the Challenge events that were held on the Rabi Mountain Path.
In statements to “Sharjah 24”, Dokhi said that the challenge was held in cooperation with the Council’s Strategic Partner Foundation, the Sharjah Foundation for Women’s Sports, the Khorfakkan Cultural Sports Club, Al Qudra Company for Sports Services, and sponsored by the people’s Village.
He added that the challenge, which extends for about 3 kilometers to the summit of Jabal Rabi, at an altitude of 395 meters, aims to raise awareness of the importance of practicing sport and making it a way of life, in addition to promoting tourism for mountainous areas in Khorfakkan in particular, and the Emirate of Sharjah in general.
In conclusion, the Director of the Sports and Community Events Department at the Sharjah Sports Council praised the efforts of the organisers, supporters and participants in the activities of the challenge in its second session.
