Sharjah 24: The Sharjah International Marine Sports Club (SIMSC) organised, on Saturday, an environmental campaign to clean the fishermen's port in Khorfakkan, in cooperation with a number of authorities, and the participation of about 50 divers and a large number of volunteers.
Talking exclusively to “Sharjah 24”, Ahmed Issa Al Hosani, Executive Director of the SIMSC explained that 50 divers and about 20 assistants have participated in the campaign extracting more than two tonnes of marine waste from the bottom of the fishermen's port in Khorfakkan.
Al Hosani added that the campaign aimed to raise awareness of the importance of preserving the marine environment, in one of the important facilities concerned with the fishing and fisheries sector.
Khorfakkan Municipality and Fishing Cooperative Society, Eastern Region Police Department, Coast Guard, the National Ambulance, and Bee'ah participated in the campaign.
