Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Police General Command, represented by the Traffic and Patrols Department, launched a traffic awareness campaign under the title "Give Pedestrians Their Right" with the aim of consolidating the principles of traffic culture through traffic awareness programmes.
In exclusive statements to “Sharjah 24”, Captain Saud Al Shaiba, Director of the Traffic Awareness and Media Branch, said this campaign is an embodiment of the strategy of the Sharjah Police General Command with the aim of making roads safer.
He pointed out that "Give Pedestrians Their Right" campaign is concerned with distributing proper instructions for pedestrian crossing, how to cross correctly, what are the places designated for pedestrian crossing, and what is the responsibility of drivers towards pedestrians.
Captain Al Shaiba confirmed that the Traffic and Patrols Department recorded 22 traffic accidents with varying injuries due to wrong crossing on the Emirate's roads during the period from the beginning of January until the end of December of last year 2020, wishing safety for all.
