Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Institute for Heritage (SIH) , Kalba, hosted a debate session titled "A View on Mountains' Horizons" Saturday morning, in commemoration of International Mountain Day, which falls on December 11 each year.
The session was held under the patronage and in the presence of Sheikh Saeed bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Deputy Chief of Sharjah Ruler's Office in Khorfakkan, Sheikh Haitham bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Deputy Head of Sharjah Ruler's Office in Kalba, and Khamis Al Mazrouei, Governor of Wadi Al Helo in Kalba.
Several scholars and speakers took part in the event, which focused on the mountains of Wadi Al Helo and its rich historical history, the inhabitants of Wadi Al Helo, the region's natural environment, and its Flora and Fauna.
Dr. Saeed Al Haddad, Director of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage's Kalba branch, said: "We are always eager to commemorate International Mountain Day because it reflects our goals and strategies, which are derived from the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.
Along with honouring the participants, the ceremony featured an exhibition of photographs of mountainous environment.
