Amna Al Hammadi, director of the “Tamkeen” office at the Social Aid Department, said that the department seeks to promote well-being and decent living, develop and refine the skills of beneficiaries in many different fields, activate the role of social responsibility by attracting individuals and institutions contributing to the project. The programme aims to at shifting from care to empowerment, by providing this category with sustainable skills, capabilities and experiences that qualify them to develop their skills and enable them to be active members of the society.
Amna Al Hammadi stated that the office aims to implement enabling programmes that support social security beneficiaries to make their own decisions to control their lives, benefit from and manage resources with the aim of achieving special goals and ensuring equal opportunities and social justice through a set of programmes.
Al Hammadi indicated that the training package implemented to train and refine the skills of the beneficiaries, reached 65 different programmes, and are based on developing the capabilities and skills of the beneficiaries in the areas of daily life according to the latest skill patterns such as creativity and critical thinking skills, cooperation, communication, pointing out that the training packages come as part of a series of training programmes that are provided to the department’s beneficiaries through specialised experts and academics, with the aim of building the capabilities of the affiliates and refining their skills with various scientific experiences that contribute to the development of their careers.
Al Hammadi praised the cooperation between the Department of Social Services, government and private institutions in Sharjah for the benefit of “Tamkeen” programme, as it provided suitable job opportunities for this category, and trained and qualified them to develop their performance. The institutions include 15 bodies.
