Sharjah24: The Committee for Education, Culture, Media and Youth Affairs of the Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC) visited the theater department in the Department of Culture in the Government of Sharjah and was briefed on its roles and upcoming events and its role in supporting theatrical actors and continuing to organize theatrical days.
The visit came during the committee's continuation of its work of the third regular session of the tenth legislative term as part of its tours to see the performance of cultural institutions.
The committee’s delegation included Dr. Hamid Jassim Al-Suwaiji Al-Zaabi, the head of the committee; Her Excellency Sharifa Musa Al-Mazmi, the reporter of the committee; Her Excellency Nabila Ali Al-Hammadi; Her Excellency Aisha Bukhatir; His Excellency Sheikha Ibrahim bin Juwaid; His Excellency Talib Al-Bali Al-Dhahouri, and from the General Secretariat of the Council; Huda Al-Hammadi, the Secretary of the Committee.
The committee received at the administration headquarters in the University City Hall, His Excellency Ahmed Mohamed Burhaima, Director of the Theater Department and his assistants.
At the beginning of the visit, His Excellency Dr. Hamid Jassim Al Suwaiji Al Zaabi, Chairman of the Committee, highlighted the importance of the committee’s visit to the theater management and to inform it of its continuous work throughout the year as it is a translation of the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to take care of the theater, praising the efforts of the Department within the work of the Department of Culture in the interest in theater and the presentation of events and continuous days that enhance the orientations of the Emirate of Sharjah in supporting theatrical actors.
In turn, His Excellency Ahmed Mohamed Burhaima, Director of the Theater Department, welcomed the visit of the members of the Education, Culture, Media and Youth Affairs Committee of SCC for Theater Management and praised the SCC’s keenness to advance cultural landmarks, as Sharjah is a pioneer in all its cultural, artistic and theatrical programs at the local, Gulf and Arab levels, and it has assumed its global roles as well..
Burhaima and his assistants gave an integrated explanation about the organization of several theater festivals throughout the year, which in its entirety constitute a vision of the artistic and cultural theatrical event, which is organized regularly under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah through the participation of theater groups and work to support them and enhance their roles and the roles of the movement permanent play.
During the meeting, members of the Education, Culture and Media Affairs Committee discussed several scenarios to support the theatrical movement in the Emirate of Sharjah, including festivals, discovering talented people, especially in schools, supporting capacities, writers and actors, providing an incubating environment for theatrical works, supporting the production of targeted plays, and communicating with authorities, associations and specialized teams to attract artists and writers.
