Sharjah24: The Sharjah Police (SP) General Command launched an awareness campaign titled "Be Aware" this morning, Thursday, July 7, in collaboration with strategic partners "Sharjah Islamic Bank, the Sharjah Cooperative Society, and a number of commercial centres in the emirate," with the goal of educating a broad segment of the population. Community members were informed about the dangers of internet extortion and different fraud schemes as part of the Ministry of Interior's and Sharjah Police's goal to improve security and safety.
According to Colonel Omar Ahmad Abu Al Zoud, Director of Criminal Investigations, at Sharjah Police, the campaign aims to raise awareness among all segments of society and inform them of the risks they may face if they are subjected to electronic extortion and fraud, whether through traditional or modern electronic methods.

Colonel Abu Al Zoud added that the campaign will encompass a range of awareness-raising measures in three languages to combat this criminal behaviour (Arabic, English, and Urdu).

He urged people not to be afraid to report any blackmail or unpleasant conduct using the "Hares" service via the Sharjah Police application or by phone.
