Sharjah 24: The Legal and Legislative Affairs, Grievances, and Proposals Committee of the Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC) expressed its legal opinion on the draft law regulating the Sharjah Social Services Department (SSSD). The council referred the draft law to the committee for examination and study, following its review by the council's Health Affairs Committee.
The committee's meeting took place at the council's headquarters in Sharjah, chaired by Dr. Shaheen Ishaq Al Mazmi, the committee's chairman.
The committee carefully reviewed different clauses of the proposed legislation that govern the operations of the SSSD. Their primary focus was on the legal aspects concerning the department's scope, objectives, and its role in shaping policies related to social care and protection. Additionally, they emphasised the significance of strengthening and improving the department's initiatives to empower community members in effectively tackling social issues.
The committee also deliberated on the objectives outlined in the draft law, which empower the department to enhance its contributions in providing support, assistance, and various services such as daycare and home care for different segments of society.
At the end of the meeting, the committee approved the submission of its report to the Vice-Chairman of the SCC, in preparation for its presentation in the next session.
