Sharjah 24: Al Qasimia University concluded the Summer Chess Championship 2023, organised within the framework of its championships and sporting events for university students in the context of the Student Activities Plan of the Dean’s Office for Student Affairs.
The championship was organised, after the completion of all preparations and cooperation with the Sharjah Cultural and Chess Club, to be held at the university’s headquarters, with the remarkable participation of students from all university faculties. The championship was supervised by international referee Abdul Qadir Reis.
The championship, which was organised with the follow-up of His Excellency Prof. Dr. Awwad Al-Khalaf, Director of Al Qasimia University, aimed to continue promoting sports and encouraging university students to participate in all the activities carried out by the university, especially sports events, which the university pays continuous attention to throughout the year.
The championship also confirmed the keenness of the Dean’s Office for Student Affairs at Al Qasimia University to raise sports culture and sports awareness, and to highlight the skill level of students, to qualify a group of students to represent the university in all participations.
At the end of the championship, the results reflected promising talents for chess at Al Qasimia University, whereas Abdul Basir Ibrahimov, student from Uzbekistan and enrolled in the Faculty of Economics and Administration won the first place; Baybars Abdul Samad, student from Kazakhstan and enrolled in the Faculty of Economics and Administration, won the second place; Abdulsalam Qaynzar, student from Kazakhstan and enrolled in the Faculty of Economics and Administration, won the third place.
