Sharjah 24: Sharjah SC's head coach, Milos Milojevic, described the upcoming ADNOC Professional League match against Shabab Al Ahli as one of the toughest fixtures of the season, calling it “a big derby between two teams with quality and ambition.”

Derby matches are always tough

In his press conference, Milos stated: "Derby matches against Shabab Al Ahli are always tough and difficult, but I believe in our ability to achieve a positive result, especially since we worked this week to address some points and improve small details. The gaps between winning and losing in football are not large. We respect our opponent and know their strengths, but we also trust the quality of our players and their ability to perform at their true best."

Team’s mental state

Regarding the team’s mindset, he added: "The team isn't in a state of psychological collapse, as some are saying, but it needs to return to basics. There's no magic formula; the solution lies in hard work and focusing on the small details: winning possession, passing accurately, and playing as a team. When we do these simple things with confidence, the team will naturally return to its best."

Experience and consistency

Milos recalled a similar situation in his career: "I've been through similar difficult situations, and the most important thing in such times is to remain consistent and not get emotional. What we ask of the players is to give their all on the field, because effort is the only thing we can control; other circumstances are beyond our control."

Message to the fans

He also addressed Sharjah SC supporters directly: "Our primary goal is to make the fans proud of the team. We know that recent results haven't lived up to our expectations, but we ask for their support during the match. Criticism after the match is acceptable, but during the match, we need their support because they are the source of our true strength. If there are any comments, let them be directed to me personally, not the players. They need confidence, not pressure."

Igor Coronado: Opportunity to show true character

Star player Igor Coronado emphasized that the match represents a chance for the team to return to winning ways: “It's a big match that every player would love to play. For me, it's the perfect scenario to come back and show our true character. We've worked hard this week to correct mistakes and focus on the details, and we know we have the quality to achieve a positive result.”

Matches test players’ character

Coronado added: “Matches like this showcase the players' character and their ability to face challenges. We realize that the current situation isn't the best, but we have confidence in ourselves and know that we only need one step to get back on track. The most important thing is to play as a team and fight for the badge.”

Appeal to the fans

Concluding his remarks, Coronado addressed the supporters: “The King's fans know how much I love and appreciate them. We are fully aware of their frustration with the recent results, but we need their support during the 90 minutes, because that support is what gives us strength on the pitch. After the match, they can express themselves however they want, but during the match, we need them with all their energy.”
