Pereira succeeds former coach Tariq Abdul Halim, as part of the club's plan to inject new blood and enrich the technical side with experienced coaches capable of further developing the team's performance and raising its standards in the coming period.

The Portuguese coach boasts an impressive coaching record in the Arabian Gulf region, having led a number of well-known clubs in the UAE, Oman, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain, including Al-Oruba and Dibba (UAE), Al-Nahda (Oman), Al-Majzel (Saudi Arabia), Al-Seeb (Oman), Al-Nasr (Oman), and Al-Khalidiya (Bahrain). This experience has given him extensive expertise in dealing with different footballing styles and competitive environments in the Gulf.
