Sharjah 24: Malav Shroff, President of the Asian Sailing Federation, attended, on Saturday, the competitions of the third day of the Asian Cup for Youth Modern Sailing, which began last Wednesday and will continue until 30 December. The event is organised by Al Hamriyah Cultural and Sports Club, in cooperation with the UAE Sailing and Rowing Federation, at Al Hamriyah International Sailing Centre.

Shroff was received by Humaid Al Shamsi, Chairman of the Club’s Board of Directors, in the presence of Mohammed Abdullah Harib, Vice President of the UAE Sailing and Rowing Federation, and Mohammed Al Obaidli, Secretary General of the Federation.

Providing an ideal competitive environment

The President of the Asian Federation expressed his pleasure at attending this continental event, praising Al Hamriyah Club’s efforts in the outstanding organisation of the Asian Cup by providing an ideal competitive environment for developing young Asian talents in the sport of sailing.

Strengthening the country’s position on the marine sports map

For his part, Mohammed Abdullah Harib stressed the importance of the UAE in general, and Al Hamriyah Club in particular, hosting this continental event, and its role in strengthening the country’s position on the marine sports map and in developing the technical level of national team players.

A range of accompanying cultural and community activities

The Asian Cup for Modern Sailing competitions are accompanied by a range of cultural and community activities dedicated to local residents, spectators and visitors to the continental championship, reflecting the community role played by Al Hamriyah Club.
