Sharjah 24 – WAM: Precious metals kicked off the New Year on a high note on Friday, continuing the momentum from record gains in 2025.

Gold rises after record rally

Spot gold climbed 1.3% to $4,372.02 per ounce as of 0357 GMT, rebounding after hitting a record high of $4,549.71 on December 26 and dipping to a two-week low earlier in the week. February US gold futures rose 1% to $4,386.40 per ounce. Gold ended 2025 with a 64% annual gain, its largest since 1979.

Silver hits new heights

Spot silver jumped 2.8% to $73.30 per ounce, following a record high of $83.62 on Monday. Silver finished 2025 with a staggering 147% annual increase, its best year on record.

Platinum and Palladium surge

Spot platinum rose 3.1% to $2,116.40 per ounce after reaching an all-time high of $2,478.50 on Monday, marking its largest annual gain ever at 127%. Palladium gained 2.2% to $1,641.03 per ounce, closing the previous year up 76%, its best performance in 15 years.
