The competition reflects Shams’ commitment to encouraging creative and social initiatives that embody authentic Emirati values, strengthen social ties and present Sharjah as a city illuminated by festive lights and spiritual atmosphere throughout Ramadan.
Residents are invited to participate by documenting their home decorations through photographs or short video clips. Entries will be assessed by a specialised judging panel based on creativity, visual appeal, Ramadan identity and quality of presentation, encouraging wide community involvement and friendly competition.
The competition will run from the first day of Ramadan until the 18th day of the holy month. The first-place winner will receive AED 70,000, while second and third places will be awarded AED 40,000 and AED 20,000 respectively. Additional prizes worth AED 10,000 each have been allocated to other shortlisted entries, aiming to broaden participation and reward creative efforts.
Rashid Abdullah Al Obad, the Director General of Sharjah Media City, said the award carries a strong social and cultural message, reflecting Shams’ dedication to strengthening community engagement and highlighting the aesthetic and human values associated with Ramadan. He noted that the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi reinforces the importance of initiatives that support cultural identity, celebrate creativity and spread positivity across society.
Sharjah Media City has invited residents of the emirate to take part in the initiative by showcasing their Ramadan decorations and contributing to the festive spirit of Sharjah. Participants are encouraged to share their entries using the hashtag Ramadan in Sharjah and to review the full terms and details via the official website.
