2.8 mn transactions, 30 mn data exchanges drive gov-integration

Sharjah 24: In the presence of Sheikh Saud bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Director General of the Sharjah Digital Department, the department announced that Sharjah government successfully handled over 2.8 million digital transactions in 2025, marking a jump of almost 50% from the previous year, reflecting the fast pace towards a fully digital government. The SDD also revealed that government entities exchanged more than 30 million pieces of real-time data, demonstrating the strong connection among entities and the haste in sharing information to better serve the public.

During the Sharjah Digital Integration Forum, held at the Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club, according to the department, More than 25,000 government employees have received training through modern digital programs to improve how the government uses technology. Additionally, more than 65% of central government departments are now connected to a shared network, which helps create a more coordinated and effective government system.

Integration goals and future step priorities

In his speech at the start of the forum, Sheikh Saud bin Sultan Al Qasimi explained that digital integration represents a conscious and deliberate shift from talking about digital transformation to establishing it as a sustainable approach to government work in Sharjah. It goes beyond just talking about improving technology to actually making it a lasting part of how the government operates in Sharjah. He noted that the next step will focus on aligning the department’s goals and efforts, which will turn out beneficial to the public and help build a more efficient and responsive government in the future.

Sheikh Saud explained that the past period was a tough and turbulent journey with a lot of struggles and new experiences, leading to accomplishing and contributing to establishing the conviction that real success cannot be not grasped by one entity, but more likely by a united system that believes that digital transformation is a shared responsibility. He expressed his gratitude to all the entities for their efforts and the spirit they demonstrated, and for the impact they had on government services and experiences.

Vision and strategies cohesion for digital transformation

He added that the next phase is based on six clear messages that form the framework and reference for priorities, starting with unifying the vision and strategic direction for digital transformation across the Sharjah government, aiming to bring different efforts together, accelerating results, and making overall experience smoother.

The Director General spoke about the importance of providing a shared digital infrastructure that accelerates achievement, including the government cloud, networks and cybersecurity, and pointed out that data represents the language of digital integration, which requires the development of platforms and standards for data exchange between government entities.

The forum included a panel discussion titled "Digital Integration: One System, Multiplier Effect," highlighting the importance of connecting digital services and showcasing successful stories from across the country that enhanced service delivery. The Sharjah Digital Department revealed its 2026 plans for online security, digital services, data management, and technology infrastructure, signaling a transition from planning to real projects.

As part of strengthening strategic partnerships, a memorandum of understanding was signed with the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre in the field of geographic information systems, which supports the exchange of experiences, capacity building, and accelerating the achievement of the emirate’s digital goals.
