Sharjah24-WAM: Sheikh Zayed bin Hamad bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, Chairman of the National Anti-Narcotics Agency (NANA), commended the close coordination and intelligence cooperation between the General Department of Anti-Narcotics at Dubai Police and its counterpart in the State of Kuwait, which culminated in a major operation that dismantled an international drug-trafficking network and led to the seizure of more than 14 million Captagon pills

He said the achievement highlights the strength of fraternal relations between the UAE and Kuwait and reflects a high level of operational integration and intelligence exchange between the authorities of both countries, enhancing regional security and curbing cross-border trafficking networks

Sophisticated concealment uncovered

Dubai Police, in coordination with Kuwait’s anti-narcotics authorities, foiled an attempt to smuggle one of the largest consignments of Captagon tablets. The criminal network had concealed millions of pills inside sacks of corn grains, distributed across five containers to evade inspection and avoid suspicion.

Through detailed intelligence analysis and continuous information sharing between Emirati and Kuwaiti authorities, the network’s plan was uncovered and the suspects’ movements closely monitored. Specialised teams intervened at a critical stage to halt the operation.

Three suspects arrested

Once the intelligence picture was complete, specialised teams carried out a precise field operation, arresting three suspects as they unloaded the sacks for storage. The entire shipment was seized on site.

Authorities confiscated 2 tonnes and 250 kilograms of Captagon tablets, totalling 14,062,500 pills, which were tightly concealed within a commercial shipment. The seizure ranks among the most significant operations against organised trafficking networks.

Commitment to regional security

Dubai Police confirmed that the success reflects the high preparedness of anti-narcotics teams and the effectiveness of an integrated security approach that combines intelligence analysis, advanced technology and rapid field response.

The force reiterated that combating narcotics remains a top security priority because of the serious threat they pose to society, reaffirming its continued commitment to preventing the UAE from being used as a transit or storage hub for illegal substances.

Sheikh Zayed expressed appreciation to anti-narcotics officers in both countries for their professionalism and vigilance, emphasising that the operation embodies a strong security partnership and the importance of continued intelligence and operational cooperation to disrupt drug networks and protect communities.
