UAE Marine Sports Federation elects new board by acclamation

Sharjah 24: The UAE Marine Sports Federation announced the unopposed election of its new board of directors for the 2024–2028 term, with Abdullah Mohammed Salem Al-Wahibi elected as president. The announcement was made by the federation’s electoral committee, chaired by Dr Mohammed Abdulrahim Al-Hammadi.

General Assembly meeting

The results were confirmed during a General Assembly meeting held at the headquarters of the sports federations within the UAE National Olympic Committee. Representatives from the federation’s nine member clubs were present, ensuring a quorum and allowing the electoral process to proceed according to the federation’s bylaws.

Newly elected board members

The new board, elected by acclamation, includes Abdullah Mohammed Salem Al-Wahibi as chairman, Sheikha Mohammed Obaid Al Zaabi as a member representing the women’s category, and Abdullah Mubarak Obaid Al Zahmi, Mohammed Abdullah Abu Shahab Al Suwaidi, and Abdulwahed Mahmoud Abdullah Ismail as members. The number of candidates matched the available seats, enabling a smooth acclamation process.

Vision and goals

In a statement to Emirates News Agency (WAM), Al-Wahibi expressed gratitude for the General Assembly’s confidence and highlighted the responsibility of leading the federation after previously heading the committee managing its affairs. He emphasised plans for intensive efforts to develop aquatic sports in the UAE, contributing to national sports aspirations, and thanked the Ministry of Sports and the UAE National Olympic Committee for their continued support.
