His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed also viewed a collection of more than 60 rare and previously unpublished photographs capturing historic moments from 2 December 1971, when the Union was formed and the UAE flag was raised for the first time at Union House in Dubai.
The collection features an original print signed by Sheikh Zayed, as well as the original photographic negatives, highlighting the significance of the occasion.
His Highness expressed his admiration for the collection, emphasising its historical and symbolic value in documenting defining moments in the nation’s history. He reflected on the pivotal role played by Sheikh Zayed and his fellow Rulers in realizing the vision of unity and establishing the Union.
In recognition of their contribution, His Highness hosted an iftar at Qasr Al Bahr for several individuals who witnessed Sheikh Zayed raising the UAE flag. Attendees shared their pride and personal memories of participating in one of the UAE’s most significant historical moments.
During the gathering, His Highness engaged in warm conversations with attendees and their families, conveying Ramadan greetings and expressing his hopes for continued blessings for the UAE and its people.
