The service supported a coordinated transfer process following the temporary suspension of certain flight operations. It was implemented in cooperation with the relevant authorities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, ensuring procedural integration and swift execution in line with the highest safety and operational standards.
The operation was part of a structured national response to evolving regional developments.
Authorities confirmed that the service was delivered through a carefully managed mechanism that included the immediate activation of approved safety protocols and emergency plans to ensure smooth and secure operations.
Technical and human resources were mobilised to ensure the continuity of operations without affecting freight services, which continued as normal across the national railway network.
Matar Saeed Al Nuaimi, Director General of ADCMC, said the step demonstrates the national system’s ability to respond rapidly to regional developments, underscoring the strategic importance of the UAE’s railway network and its operational readiness under various conditions.
He added that operating the passenger service before its official launch demonstrates strong institutional flexibility and the ability to redeploy national capabilities to address societal needs without disrupting long-term plans or logistical security.
Engineer Mohammed Al Shehhi, Chief Projects Officer at Etihad Rail, said the initiative reflects the directives of the UAE leadership to support national efforts that ensure the stability of citizens and residents.
He added that the move demonstrates the technical readiness and operational flexibility of the national railway network and the competence of its workforce. It also demonstrates the UAE’s capacity to manage regional developments efficiently while maintaining continuity of essential services and strengthening confidence in the resilience of national infrastructure.
