Sharjah24 - WAM: The International Charity Organisation (ICO) has successfully implemented its Ramadan “Iftar” initiative, reaching more than 600 villages across several Muslim-majority countries. During the first half of Ramadan, the programme distributed around 225,000 iftar meals alongside more than 16,000 food parcels. The initiative also extended support to workers within the UAE and low-income families, ensuring assistance was provided in a timely and dignified manner.

Responding to growing humanitarian needs

The organisation expanded the programme this year to accommodate increasing humanitarian demands in various countries. Field teams and overseas offices intensified their efforts from the start of Ramadan to guarantee that aid reached beneficiaries efficiently. ICO works in close coordination with relevant authorities in each country to ensure accurate targeting, compliance with local regulations, and adherence to established humanitarian standards. A field monitoring system has also been introduced to track progress and evaluate impact.

Broader humanitarian and development programmes

ICO continues to implement other charitable initiatives during Ramadan, including Zakat distribution, provision of Eid clothing, and assistance for urgent humanitarian cases. In parallel, the organisation pursues long-term development projects, such as constructing mosques, schools, homes, and health centres, as well as drilling wells to improve local infrastructure and living conditions.

Recognising donors and supporters

The organisation emphasised the critical role of donors and benefactors within and outside the UAE, whose contributions have enabled it to reach millions of beneficiaries. ICO encouraged continued support to sustain its humanitarian and charitable efforts throughout the remainder of Ramadan, reinforcing its commitment to alleviating hardship and promoting community welfare.
