UAE condemns drone attack targeting its consulate in Iraq

Sharjah24-WAM: The United Arab Emirates strongly condemned and denounced the unprovoked terrorist drone attack that targeted the UAE Consulate General in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, which caused material damage but did not result in any injuries.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that targeting diplomatic missions and premises is a blatant breach of international standards and laws, especially the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, which ensures the inviolability of diplomatic premises and the safety of diplomatic staff.

The Ministry cautioned that these actions constitute a serious escalation and threaten regional security and stability.

Call for investigation and accountability

The UAE urged the authorities of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq to investigate the circumstances of the attack, identify those responsible, and take all necessary measures to ensure accountability for the perpetrators.

UAE reiterates rejection of such attacks

The Ministry reaffirmed the UAE’s strong rejection of attacks aimed at undermining security and stability, emphasising the importance of safeguarding diplomatic missions, premises, and personnel in accordance with international laws and norms.
