Bahrain condemns storming of Kuwaiti consulate in Basra

Sharjah24: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Kingdom of Bahrain expressed strong condemnation and denunciation of the storming and acts of vandalism that targeted the Consulate General of the State of Kuwait in the city of Basra in the Republic of Iraq, as well as the blatant attacks on the inviolability of the consular mission, in a flagrant violation of all international laws and norms, and constituting a serious breach of the provisions of the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations of 1963.

The Ministry affirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s full solidarity with the sisterly State of Kuwait and its complete support for the measures it takes to protect its missions and interests. It stressed the necessity of safeguarding diplomatic and consular premises and personnel in accordance with international agreements and conventions, and of taking immediate and decisive measures to hold all those involved in these criminal acts accountable and to ensure their non-recurrence, in a manner that contributes to enhancing security and stability, preserving diplomatic relations, and reinforcing the principles of international law.
