Sharjah24-AFP: The Israel Defence Forces launched airstrikes and shelled several areas in southern Lebanon on Tuesday, while warning residents of 12 villages and towns to evacuate immediately ahead of further strikes, despite the ceasefire with Hezbollah being extended.

According to Lebanon’s official National News Agency, the strikes targeted several locations in the Tyre region, including Maachouk, Al Housh, Burj Al Shamali, Maarakeh, Al Majadel and Hanawayh, as well as Dbayn and Kfarsir in the Nabatieh Governorate.

The strike on Maachouk caused the top two floors of a building to collapse, damaging nearby buildings and parked vehicles.

Another strike hit the Al Saray neighbourhood in Nabatieh, which includes commercial shops, an old mosque and traditional residential houses.

The attack caused widespread destruction in the neighbourhood, while AFP images showed a large plume of smoke rising from the targeted area.
