Sharjah 24: Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member, Ruler of Sharjah and Founder of Al Qasimia University, Al Qasimia University celebrated the graduation of its 11th cohort of students during an official ceremony held at the University City Hall in Sharjah.

The ceremony saw the graduation of 210 male and female students from the university’s five colleges who completed graduation requirements for the Spring semester of the 2025–2026 academic year. The colleges are: the College of Sharia and Islamic Studies, the College of Arts and Humanities, the College of Economics and Management, the College of Communication, and the College of the Holy Quran.

The ceremony was attended by the Chairman and members of the Board of Trustees, the University Chancellor and vice chancellors and assistants, college deans, academic and administrative staff members, in addition to a number of officials, ambassadors and consuls accredited to the UAE.

The event opened with the UAE national anthem and the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by a speech by His Excellency Jamal Salem Al Tarifi, President of Al Qasimia University.

On behalf of the university community, he expressed the highest appreciation and gratitude to His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and Founder of the University, praising His Highness’s continued support and vision, which have transformed the university into an academic and humanitarian institution carrying the message of knowledge and learning to different parts of the world.

Expansion in postgraduate programmes

Al Tarifi confirmed that the university witnessed expansion in postgraduate programmes this year through the launch of Master’s programmes in Fiqh and Its Foundations, and Arabic Language and Literature, with a Master’s programme in Quranic Exegesis and Hadith set to be introduced next year, strengthening its academic and research journey.

He also pointed to the continuation of the university’s global mission by attracting students from more than 136 nationalities within an environment that promotes coexistence and mutual understanding.

Al Tarifi added that the university continues to support its academic and community initiatives by expanding Al Qasimia University schools for Quran memorisation across several African countries.

He also highlighted efforts to strengthen leadership in teaching Arabic to non-native speakers through the development of Al Qasimia University’s digital educational series, reflecting its mission to serve knowledge, the Holy Quran and humanity.

Academic achievements highlighted

For his part, His Excellency Professor Dr Awad Al Khalaf, Chancellor of Al Qasimia University, extended congratulations to His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and Founder of the University on the graduation of the 11th cohort, affirming that graduates represent the outcome of a deeply rooted academic and humanitarian journey.

The university director also reviewed major academic and strategic achievements made during the academic year. These included the introduction of the Master’s programme in Quranic Exegesis and Hadith, renewal of academic accreditation for the Bachelor’s programme in Exegesis and Quran Sciences, and organisation of the 10th International Conference of Al Qasimia University with broad participation from researchers and academic institutions.

Achievements also included strengthening the university’s research presence in the Scopus database, publishing 12 new academic works, obtaining membership in AACSB, expanding academic partnerships with numerous local and international institutions, and developing training programmes and student activities.

These efforts, he said, reinforce the quality of academic outcomes and strengthen the university’s position as an attractive global educational environment.

Certificates awarded to graduates

At the conclusion of the ceremony, Jamal Salem Al Tarifi, accompanied by Professor Dr Awad Al Khalaf, presented certificates to graduates from different disciplines amid an atmosphere of joy and pride shared by students and their families.
