5th Kalba Beach Games sees intense competitions

Sharjah 24: Sheikh Saeed bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Deputy Head of the Ruler's Office in Khorfakkan, attended the "We Walk in Love with Sultan" march, organised by the Sharjah Sports Council (SSC) in cooperation with the Kalba Sports and Cultural Club. The march, held on the fifth day of the 5th Kalba Beach Games, saw wide participation and a wonderful atmosphere.

The Games continue with fierce competition across various sports. The preliminary rounds of the tug-of-war and youth volleyball competitions were held.

Wide participation

The competitions were attended by His Excellency Abdulmalik Mohammed Jani, Chairman of the Higher Organising Committee; His Excellency Dr Abdullah Abdulrahman bin Sultan, Vice Chairman of SSC; His Excellency Engineer Adel Saleh Al Hammadi, Member of SSC; His Excellency Fahad Abdullah Juma, Member of the Board of Directors of the UAE Athletics Federation; Mohammed Ali bin Hammad, Director of Government Communications; Hamad Al Bimani; Abdullah Hussein Al Ali, Director of the Internal Audit Office at the Council; Bakheet Saeed Al Qurs, Deputy Director of the Tournament; Zakia Suhail Al Mashrakh, Head of the Media and Marketing Committee; Shihab Ahmed Al Awadhi, Head of the Technical Committee; Abdulrahman Al Darmaki, Head of the Public Relations Committee; Lieutenant Mayed Al Zaabi, Head of the Security Committee; and members of the General Supervision Office.

The tug-of-war competition, supervised by the Emirates Bodybuilding and Physical Strength Federation, began with the participation of seven teams from the men's, junior, and women's categories, in addition to two teams from the Sultanate of Oman. Two men's teams, one women's team, and one junior team qualified for the final stage. Other teams will join them after the completion of the qualifying rounds to reach the final and crowning ceremony on Thursday, November 13.

In the Under-19 beach volleyball tournament, organised by the UAE Volleyball Association, the preliminary round saw the participation of over 40 teams, divided into 13 groups, with 16 teams advancing to the next round.

The football semifinal lineup is now complete: Al Humaidi, Al Numoor, Emirates "B", and Kalba have qualified for the semifinals.

Accompanying events

The "We Walk in Love with Sultan" march was held with wide participation, reaching 1200 people. Among those present were Sheikh Saeed bin Saqr Al Qasimi, His Excellency Abdulmalik Jani, His Excellency Engineer Adel Saleh Al Hammadi, His Excellency Rashid Al Kindi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kalba Club, Bakheet Saeed Al Qurs, Deputy Director of the Tournament, members of the organizing committee, members of the club's board of directors, and representatives of various clubs, including administrators, players, and members of different sports. Residents of Kalba also participated. The march set off at 4:00 PM from the Clock Tower roundabout to the flagpole amidst a wonderful atmosphere of walking, classic cars, and motorcycles, accompanied by traditional and folk songs, expressing everyone's love, pride, and admiration for His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and his place in everyone's hearts.

Winners of the tug-of-war in the adult, junior, and women's categories will be crowned, while the volleyball competition continues with the men's category qualifiers.
