Mohammed bin Rashid opens FNC's 18th Legislative Session

Sharjah 24 – WAM: On behalf of UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, opened Monday, the third ordinary session of the 18th legislative chapter of the Federal National Council (FNC).

His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, also attended the opening ceremony. The event was attended by Crown Princes, Deputy Rulers, dignitaries, civic and military officials, and members of the diplomatic corps.

Official proceedings and decree

The event began with the reading of Federal Decree No. (151) of 2025, issued by the UAE President, convening the third ordinary session of the 18th legislative chapter of the FNC.

Keynote address by Saqr Ghobash

Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council, delivered a keynote address, expressing gratitude to the leadership for their continued support, which has enabled Council members to carry out their responsibilities.

Achievements and national focus for 2025 and 2026

He highlighted that 2025 has been an exceptional year for the UAE, marked by major achievements in competitiveness, security, economy, innovation, renewable energy, artificial intelligence, and quality of life. Ghobash also emphasized the declaration of 2025 as the Year of Community and 2026 as the Year of the Family, reflecting a focus on human values, belonging, and shared responsibility. The approval of the federal budget for 2026, the largest in the country's history, confirms ongoing growth and confidence.

UAE’s role in regional and global peace

He noted that the UAE continues to play a leading role in promoting regional and global peace, supporting dialogue and coexistence, aiding those in need, and supporting the Palestinian people.

Commitment to constitutional duties and future vision

Ghobash affirmed the Federal National Council's commitment to its constitutional duties and supporting the leadership's vision of building a future-ready nation. He concluded with a prayer for the nation, its leadership, and its people.
