Takahiro Ueno, project manager for the "Safe Adventure" development team at the General Projects Office, which reports directly to the president of Kawasaki Heavy Industries, indicated that the robot is currently just a concept, but the company will begin selling it by 2035. He added, "We have already announced the start of preparations for industrial production, and this is a final decision."
Ueno explained that the "Corleo" concept originated from the idea of enabling humans to travel safely across rugged terrain inaccessible on foot or by any conventional means of transportation. Footage shows the robot carrying its rider, climbing mountain peaks, running through dense forests, crossing mountain streams, and jumping over obstacles.
Ueno continued, “Our primary goal was to create a human-integrating robot that can be ridden and utilized to its full potential, while ensuring safety. The idea is for it to be an obedient robot that moves according to its rider’s wishes, incorporating the functions of a motorcycle and a horse, enabling humans to reach places inaccessible on foot or by vehicle.”
Ueno stated, “I am responsible for the technical aspects, so it’s difficult for me to specify a price, but it won’t be 100 million yen ($640,000). It will most likely be much less—tens of thousands of dollars.”
Corleo was showcased at the Kawasaki booth at IREX 2025, the world’s largest robotics exhibition, held in Tokyo. The event featured 673 companies across 3,334 booths, including 140 booths representing 14 countries.
