The event serves as a qualifier for the 2027 World Cup. As part of the programme, the national team will play seven friendly matches against the national teams of Oman, Qatar, Guinea, Saudi Arabia, and Japan.
The preparation programme will begin, on Tuesday, with a friendly match against Oman at the Dibba Al Hisn Club Hall, followed by a domestic training camp from December 26 to 30. This will be followed by an overseas training camp in Oman, including two friendly matches against Oman and Guinea on 2 and 3 January, respectively. The team will then hold an overseas training camp in Qatar from 4 to 8 January, featuring two friendly matches against the Qatari national team on 5 and 7 January.
A third overseas training camp will be held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia starting on 8 January, during which the team will play two friendly matches against the Saudi and Japanese national teams on 9 and 10 January, respectively. The national team will then depart for Kuwait on 13 January to take part in the Asian Championship.
