ERC completes housing project for flood victims in Malaysia

Sharjah 24 – WAM: The Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) has launched the final phase of its housing project for families affected by floods in Malaysia’s Pahang state, as part of the UAE’s ongoing humanitarian and development efforts to support vulnerable communities worldwide.

Project implemented under UAE leadership directives

The initiative is being carried out in line with the directives of UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, with close follow-up by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the Emirates Red Crescent, reaffirming the UAE’s long-standing commitment to humanitarian assistance and community stability.

Official inauguration in presence of senior leaders

The inauguration ceremony was opened by Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, Sultan of Pahang, and attended by Ahmed Sari Al Mazrouei, Secretary-General of the ERC, Dr Mubarak Saeed Al Dhaheri, UAE Ambassador to Malaysia, along with senior officials from the Pahang state government and community organisations.

Housing project completed across seven districts

The project aims to provide safe and adequate housing for flood-affected families through the construction and full furnishing of damaged homes across seven districts in Pahang. Implemented at a total cost of AED 11.2 million, the project has been completed at a 100 percent rate, meeting high standards of safety and quality of living.

ERC highlights cooperation and sustainable impact

In his remarks, the ERC Secretary-General expressed appreciation to the Sultan of Pahang and the state government for their support, noting that the cooperation reflects strong bilateral relations and a shared commitment to serving vulnerable groups. He reaffirmed the ERC’s dedication to sustainable humanitarian and development projects in collaboration with local and international partners.

Sultan of Pahang praises UAE humanitarian role

The Sultan of Pahang expressed his gratitude to President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the UAE’s continued support to the state, praising the country’s leadership in providing assistance to communities in need worldwide. He also commended the humanitarian and development efforts of the Emirates Red Crescent under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Strong UAE–Malaysia relations underscored

Dr Mubarak Saeed Al Dhaheri highlighted the strategic and distinguished relations between the UAE and Malaysia, especially following the entry into force of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement in October 2025. He added that Pahang holds a special place in bilateral relations, reflecting the strong bonds of friendship between the leaders of both nations.
