Nkunku strikes at the death
Christopher Nkunku fired home Milan’s equaliser in the 90th minute at the Stadio Artemio Franchi, denying Fiorentina what would have been only their third win of a difficult season.
Fiorentina’s lead undone late
The hosts had looked on course for victory after Pietro Comuzzo headed Fiorentina in front in the 66th minute. Nkunku’s late goal, however, left the Tuscans stuck on 14 points in 18th place.
Title race implications
Milan now risk falling five points off the title pace later on Sunday, with Inter seeking a seventh consecutive league win against reigning champions Napoli. Napoli, coached by Antonio Conte, trail Milan by two points and could move into second place with a win at the San Siro.
Relegation battle and fan reaction
Fiorentina sit two points behind Genoa, who are just outside the relegation zone and host Cagliari on Monday. Despite late setbacks in recent matches, fans applauded the team after the final whistle, encouraged by signs of improvement under Paolo Vanoli.
