Sharjah 24: As part of efforts to enhance the Emirate’s healthcare system, the Sharjah Health Authority (SHA) has signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a specialised hospital dedicated to maternal care and childcare within Sharjah Healthcare City.

Dr Abdulaziz Al Muhairi, Chairman of Sharjah Health Authority and Sharjah Healthcare City, announced that the agreement was signed between Sharjah Healthcare City and Amorma Mother and Child Health Hospital. The project aims to develop a specialised facility for obstetrics, gynaecology, paediatrics, and public health, adhering to leading international standards.

Focus on mothers and newborns

Dr Al Muhairi explained that the proposed hospital will focus exclusively on the care of expectant mothers and newborns. It has been designed to be a centre of excellence in obstetrics and neonatal medicine, offering integrated services that support maternal and child health at every stage.

Postnatal care and wellbeing programmes

Speaking to “Sharjah 24,” he noted that the project will also include specialised postnatal health and wellness programmes that cover physical recovery and broader health support. These services aim to improve mothers’ quality of life and align with modern approaches to comprehensive healthcare.

A landmark facility

He added that the hospital will be built on a site spanning approximately 8,000 square metres within Sharjah Healthcare City. The project seeks to set advanced benchmarks for maternal and child healthcare services in the region, reflecting Sharjah’s commitment to strengthening its healthcare sector and ensuring long-term readiness.
