Sharjah24: The fourth Ramadan football championship for the junior and youth categories kicked off yesterday evening at Dibba Al Hisn Football Club, welcoming players born between 2012 and 2018. The tournament opened in a vibrant sporting atmosphere with strong official and community attendance, reflecting continued efforts to nurture emerging talent and promote sporting activities during the holy month of Ramadan.

The opening ceremony was attended by Ahmed Abdullah bin Yarouf Al Naqbi, Chairman of the Municipal Council of Dibba Al Hisn; Talib Abdullah Saqr Al Yahyaei, Chairman of Dibba Al Hisn Municipality; Abdullah Al Tarban, Chairman of Dibba Al Hisn Football Club; and Dr Mohammed Ahmed Al Mutawa, Chairman of Dibba Al Hisn Sports and Cultural Club, along with several board members and sports and community figures.

Supporting young talent and values
The tournament underscores the club’s commitment to providing a suitable sporting environment for young players to refine their skills, while encouraging fair competition, teamwork and positive sporting values. It also makes use of the Ramadan season to reinforce educational and character-building principles through sport.

Teams named after Sharjah landmarks
This year’s edition introduces an innovative idea, with participating teams named after tourist and cultural landmarks in the Emirate of Sharjah. The initiative aims to familiarise young players with their city’s history and attractions, while strengthening their sense of belonging.

Month-long competition ahead
The championship is expected to feature strong and entertaining matches, supported by excellent organisation and enthusiastic crowds. Games will continue throughout the holy month, culminating in the final and the crowning of the winners.
