City beat Leeds to keep pressure on Arsenal

Sharjah24:​Manchester City F.C. successfully overcame a tough test with a 1–0 away victory over Leeds United F.C. in round 28 of the Premier League, continuing their pursuit of leaders Arsenal F.C. and temporarily reducing the gap to just two points. Meanwhile, Liverpool F.C. extended their resurgence with a third consecutive win, defeating West Ham United F.C. 5–2.

City claimed their fourth straight victory and 18th league win thanks to a decisive goal from Ghana’s Antoine Semenyo in first-half stoppage time.

The side managed by Pep Guardiola moved up to 59 points in second place, two behind Arsenal, who host Chelsea F.C. in a London derby on Sunday.

 

Reds’ revival gathers pace

 

Liverpool continued their strong run by thrashing West Ham 5–2 at home, securing a third successive league victory and moving level on points with fourth-placed Manchester United F.C., who face Crystal Palace F.C. on Sunday, trailing only on goal difference.

 

Liverpool’s goals came from France’s HugoEkitike (5), Dutch duo Virgil van Dijk (24) and CodyGakpo (70), Argentina’s Alexis Mac Allister (43), and an own goal by France’s Axel Disasi (82).

West Ham’s goals were scored by the Czech Tomáš Souček (49) and Argentine substitute Taty Castellanos (75).

Liverpool nowhave 48 points in fifth place, while West Ham remain 18th on 25 points.
