AD Police arrests 109 for filming events, spreading misinformation

Sharjah 24: Abu Dhabi Police announced the arrest of 109 individuals of various nationalities who filmed locations and events and circulated false information on social media during ongoing incidents, which could incite public opinion and spread rumours within the community.

The police have taken the necessary legal and administrative measures against those involved, as part of the ongoing efforts by security authorities to monitor and address violations related to the misuse of social media.

The police emphasised that such behaviour constitutes a breach of existing laws and regulations, stressing the importance of verifying information and refraining from posting or sharing any unverified content or material not issued by official sources, due to its potential negative impact on public security and the progress of security operations.

The public was urged to rely only on official and authorised sources of information and to avoid filming or posting content related to incident sites, in order to preserve the integrity of ongoing procedures and protect the public interest.
