Trump rejects Iran ceasefire proposal

Sharjah 24 – AFP: US President Donald Trump on Monday called a proposed 45-day ceasefire with Iran a "very significant step" but said it was "not good enough" for him to sign. Talks on improving the proposal are reportedly being mediated by Pakistan, Egypt, and Turkey.

Iran, however, rejected the temporary ceasefire, insisting on a definitive end to the conflict. The stalemate comes amid ongoing US-Israeli strikes on Iranian military and petrochemical targets and Iranian missile and drone attacks across the region.

Trump has set a Tuesday deadline for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, threatening attacks on civilian infrastructure if the waterway remains blocked. The proposed ceasefire remains under negotiation, but both sides signal continued tension and military escalation.
