Sharjah 24 – Reuters: IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva warned that the Middle East war could trigger $20–50 billion in near-term financial support requests. The conflict has cut global oil and LNG supplies, pushing energy prices higher and disrupting supply chains, while prompting the IMF to lower its global growth forecast.

Georgieva said prolonged effects could include refinery shutdowns, food insecurity for 45 million more people, and ongoing supply chain disruptions. She urged countries to avoid unilateral measures like price or export controls and said the IMF is ready to scale up support for member nations.
