The tests were conducted on Sunday, according to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), marking the latest in a series of recent launches by the nuclear-armed country.
Two strategic cruise missiles flew for just over two hours, while anti-ship missiles remained airborne for about 33 minutes before striking their targets with high precision.
KCNA said the missiles followed designated flight paths over the West Sea of Korea, striking targets with “ultra-precise hit accuracy.”
The launches were conducted from the “Choe Hyon,” one of two 5,000-tonne destroyers introduced last year as part of efforts to enhance North Korea’s naval capabilities. Kim was also briefed on the weapons systems planned for two additional destroyers currently under construction.
Kim expressed satisfaction with the tests, saying they demonstrated improved readiness of the country’s strategic forces. He reiterated that strengthening North Korea’s nuclear deterrent remains the top priority.
