Sharjah 24 – WAM: Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi welcomed the resolution adopted by the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) Legal Committee during its 113th session, which strongly condemned Iran’s closure of the Strait of Hormuz, along with attacks and threats against vessels and regional states, including GCC members and Jordan.

Condemnation of threats and maritime risks

He also supported the committee’s condemnation of Iran’s reported threats involving the laying of sea mines in and around the Strait of Hormuz, as well as the imposition of a toll system on ships transiting the waterway.

Praise for UAE role and call for implementation

Albudaiwi praised the role of the UAE in preparing the resolution and stressed the importance of full international implementation in line with international law, ensuring the free and unimpeded passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz.
