Trump reiterated his stance in a social media post, saying the emerging agreement with Iran will be “far better” than the JCPOA, which was signed in 2015 between Iran and world powers including the United States, France, Germany, China, the United Kingdom, and Russia.
The United States withdrew from the 2015 deal in 2018 during Trump’s first term, and tensions have since escalated, including recent strikes involving the US and Israel aimed at preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons.
While a temporary ceasefire is expected to expire soon, it remains unclear when or whether further talks between the US and Iran will resume. Trump added that he is “under no pressure” and expects developments to happen relatively quickly, although experts note that negotiating a comprehensive nuclear agreement typically takes years.
