Sharjah 24: “Arabic Scale – Miqyas Al Dhad” is preparing to launch a study to assess the reading proficiency of Arabic-speaking students, in cooperation with and under the supervision of the “Sharjah Private Education Authority”, with the aim of improving educational outcomes in Sharjah.

The purpose of the study is to improve reading skills among Arabic-speaking students. Standardised tests, most notably the “Al-Dhad Reading Proficiency Scale Test”, will be implemented, along with research studies, to measure students’ levels and diagnose reading gaps, thereby contributing to developing Arabic educational content and enhancing mastery of the Arabic language. It will help raise awareness of Arabic literature and culture among new generations.

Starting on May 6, the study will involve 59 schools with different curricula, including those from the Ministry of Education, as well as British, American, Australian, and German schools. This shows its broad scope. This follows the success of last year's initial field study in several Authority schools.

This collaboration comes after the memorandum of understanding between SPEA and Arabic Scale, Miqyas Al Dhad. It shows their commitment to work together to adopt “Miqyas Al Dhad” as a standard tool for measuring Arabic literacy.

The " Miqyas Al Dhad " will measure and analyze using a specialized test bank. SPEA will support this effort by involving qualified, well-equipped schools. This partnership will produce reliable results and help improve the quality of Arabic language learning outcomes. It shows a shared commitment to developing the Arabic language education system with modern scientific methods. This approach will enhance the status of the Arabic language and help prepare generations who are fluent and connected to their cultural identity.
