Sharjah 24 – WAM: The Federal Tax Authority (FTA) said the number of beneficiaries from its Corporate Tax late registration penalty waiver initiative has exceeded 68,600 taxable persons during 2025 and the first part of 2026, with expectations that the total will rise to more than 91,000.

Conditions and compliance requirements

The initiative, which came into effect in April 2025, waives administrative penalties for eligible taxable and exempt persons who were late in submitting Corporate Tax registration applications, provided they meet specific conditions, including filing tax returns within seven months of the end of their first tax period instead of nine.

FTA encourages voluntary compliance

FTA Director General Abdulaziz Al Mulla urged eligible businesses and exempt persons to benefit from the scheme, highlighting efforts to support voluntary compliance, improve tax awareness, and enhance the UAE’s business environment through flexible procedures.

Automatic waiver and refund mechanism

The authority added that qualifying cases include registered, unregistered, and late-registered persons, with penalties automatically waived or refunded upon compliance, without the need for separate waiver requests through the EmaraTax platform.
