Sharjah 24 – WAM: Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council, has attended Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence’s (MBZUAI) 2024 commencement ceremony.
The cohort comprised 101 graduates, including three PhD graduates in Machine Learning (ML) and 98 master’s degree graduates in Computer Vision (CV), ML, and Natural Language Processing (NLP), highlighting the university’s leading position in the higher education landscape and its scientific research efforts in artificial intelligence (AI). The graduation also represented a key milestone in the university’s journey towards qualifying UAE National talent in AI to identify AI-powered solutions that address key global challenges.

Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed congratulated graduates on their success and honoured a number of PhD and master’s degree recipients, wishing them success in their future professional development.

He also reaffirmed the wise leadership’s keenness to stay ahead of future trends and strengthen the UAE’s position as a global destination for AI-based research and innovation, through the development of an integrated ecosystem that harnesses the potential of AI technologies across all vital sectors, in line with the UAE National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence 2031.

The ceremony was attended by Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and Founding Chairman of MBZUAI's Board of Trustees; Professor Eric Xing, MBZUAI President and University Professor; members of the university faculty; and parents of the graduates.

In his welcome address, Dr. Al Jaber congratulated the graduating Class of 2024 and explained that they have the potential to shape the future of humanity at a tipping point in the development of AI.

Dr. Al Jaber went on to urge graduates to take advantage of the many career opportunities open to them in the UAE, where the nation’s visionary leadership is creating a global hub for AI talent and entrepreneurship.

The UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology noted that AI is transforming every industry, has the potential to make a profound positive impact on energy systems, and can help deliver on the goals of the UAE Consensus.
