Abu Dhabi launches inaugural Autonomous Week

Sharjah 24 – WAM: His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs and Chairman of the Smart and Autonomous Systems Council (SASC), attended the opening ceremony of the inaugural Abu Dhabi Autonomous Week, organised by SASC and held from 10–15 November.

Abu Dhabi Autonomous Summit kicks off the Week

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan, accompanied by His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, participated in the Abu Dhabi Autonomous Summit, the opening event of the week. The summit gathers global leaders and experts in smart mobility to discuss the latest advancements in autonomous technologies, artificial intelligence, robotics, and emerging trends shaping the future of mobility.

Strategic vision for smart mobility in Abu Dhabi

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan highlighted Abu Dhabi’s role in shaping the future of the smart mobility sector, emphasizing its contribution to economic diversification, sustainable development, and a knowledge-based economy. He underlined the focus on strategic investment in smart infrastructure and national talent to enhance community wellbeing and quality of life.

Summit panels and discussions

The summit features 13 panel discussions with more than 30 speakers, including policymakers, industry experts, and innovators. Discussions focus on actionable solutions that enhance the efficiency of the global autonomous mobility ecosystem and its smart infrastructure, under the theme “Where the Future of Smart and Autonomous Mobility Takes Shape.”

DRIFTx exhibition showcases cutting-edge innovations

During the visit, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan toured pavilions at the second edition of DRIFTx, organised by the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO) as part of Autonomous Week. The exhibition brings together innovators, investors, regulators, and policymakers to explore the latest developments in smart mobility.

Advanced technology and investment opportunities

Sheikh Hamdan reviewed advanced technological solutions and innovations in autonomous transport and logistics, including ground-based autonomous systems, intelligent marine freight solutions, and drone technologies. DRIFTx provides investors with a platform to explore emerging opportunities in the autonomous systems sector and engage directly with startups, developers, and manufacturers from the UAE, the Middle East, and worldwide.
