Sharjah 24: His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, directed the employment of 603 citizens in the Government of Sharjah during May and June 2026, as part of the emirate’s efforts to enhance job opportunities and support national talents.

His Highness also approved the implementation plan of the Sharjah programme for qualifying and training job seekers from May until October, which will benefit 600 job seekers. Each participant will receive a monthly stipend of AED 6,000 for six months, at a total cost exceeding AED 21 million.

During a phone call on the “Direct Line” programme, His Highness affirmed that the United Arab Emirates, which God has blessed with wise and prudent leadership and armed forces that do not sleep in protecting it and everyone living on its land, should have all hearts reassured. He stressed that people should not remain preoccupied with following sounds and searching for their causes, but instead find reassurance in the remembrance of God and engage in their religion and righteous deeds. He referred to the armed forces as “Protectors of the Nation” and call that God grant them continued success, health, and safety, and preserve them.

Commenting on some inquiries received by the programme, His Highness said: in response to followers of the “Direct Line” programme who request digging lakes in certain areas of the emirate, I would like to clarify that lakes are dug only in land suitable for that purpose. It is not possible to dig a lake in saline land; rather, this matter is governed by the geology of the land and its surface and subsurface formations. In the area where the camel racetrack is located, between Hamda and Washah, there are mountains on the right known as “Qurun Al Bar.” These mountains retain water and prevent it from flowing to the sea, causing it to accumulate in that area. Therefore, the “Al Bar” area in Tawi Al Saman does not have water because these mountains block its flow. There is no concern about potential leakage of this water, as the reserve remains in place. The soil layers in this area are cohesive and of the same type as the mountains, not sandy, and the visible sands in this area are called “Sawafi.”

His Highness continued: these sands date back to the time of Prophet Hud (peace be upon him), as mentioned in a Quran verse. These sands come from the Arabian Sea and blow toward the Al Ahqaf mountains—high, curved sand dunes located in the southern Arabian Peninsula. When the followers of Prophet Hud left, those who rejected his message from the people of Aad fled from the area carrying the idol they worshipped to distance it from the region, leaving the storms behind them. They reached the Levant, in a high area near Damascus, where there were white rocks, and they called it “Iram,” a word that is part of a group of Arabic words meaning elevation, such as “waram” and “haram.” In Arabic, a single word can have multiple synonyms, such as “wasm,” “washm,” “rasm,” “rashm,” and “khatm,” all referring to things that do not fade. Another related word is “wasm” meaning a mark or stigma that never disappears. The Arabic language contains remarkable richness and is a pleasure to learn.

His Highness added: when the people of Aad reached this elevated area near Damascus, they built and constructed magnificently, establishing the greatest civilisation in that region, as referenced in a Quran verse. I aim to show people the beauty of the Arabic language and the great benefits of learning it. I used to carry the old “Al-Munjid” dictionary with me wherever I went, calling it “the traveller’s provision,” because it contains everything a person needs to know in the Arabic language.

His Highness added that people are encouraged to learn Arabic and to read. If he were to count what he has read, it would be immense. Reading brings enjoyment and peace to the soul. There is beneficial and fruitful speech, and there is also useless talk that appears within conversations, known as “laghw,” a term derived from the sound of a dog. He stressed that children should not spend their time on such distractions in their various forms. The greatest intelligence on earth is the intelligence of the human mind created by God—not artificial intelligence or computers—since all inventions originate from the human mind. Praise be to God who has granted us intellect, the greatest “computer” on earth. This mind seeks enrichment and knowledge, as stated in a Quran verse. People should not be deceived by meaningless talk, described as “poison in honey,” which leads individuals away from themselves and their religion and draws them toward electronic devices. He stressed the importance of protecting children and youth from the negative effects of these devices.

His Highness continued: I call on every Muslim to follow the Sunnah of the Messenger of God and say: follow your Quran and your religion. The Prophet (peace be upon him), after finishing the Fajr prayer, would remain until sunrise reciting the Quran, praising and remembering God. However, today, after completing the Fajr prayer, I saw people leaving immediately, while I remained alone in the mosque. I saw them all standing outside and asked them what they were doing outside for such a long time. I informed them of what the Prophet used to do after Fajr prayer, and questioned whether they should leave immediately and engage in conversations instead.

His Highness concluded his remarks addressing his sons and daughters and residents of the UAE, saying: we say to our sons, daughters, and our people—return to your religion, for it brings reward in this life and the hereafter. How beautiful is this reward that God multiplies for whom He wills. This is our advice to people in these days that some view as difficult. We say that God is gentle with His servants, and when we face hardship, we remember God, as stated in a Quran verse. Hearts should never fear or remain anxious about sounds and their consequences, but instead find reassurance in the remembrance of God. God will, by His will, grant relief to this country. I reassure you all—we have wise and prudent leadership and armed forces, “Protectors of the Nation,” who do not sleep in protecting the homeland and all who live on it. We stand with them and pray that God preserves them and grants them health and safety.
