Headed by Sheikha Hind Bint Majid Al Qasimi, Chairperson of Sharjah Women’s Business Council, the mission featured a delegation of 16 startups and SMEs from these entities, targeting the fashion, beauty, packaging, and retail sectors to position Sharjah-based entrepreneurs for global expansion and enhanced supply chain opportunities.
“This mission is a strategic move to translate our vision for Emirati women entrepreneurs into productive global opportunities,” said Sheikha Hind Bint Majid Al Qasimi. “By bringing our members to the centre of Guangzhou’s manufacturing hubs, we have equipped them with the connections, insights, and confidence to secure their supply chains and compete on an international scale. This is an important step in our commitment to ensuring SBWC members are at the forefront of cross-border trade and innovation.”
Her Excellency Sara Abdelaziz Al Nuaimi, CEO of Sheraa, commented: This mission offered Sheraa’s founders direct access to manufacturers and suppliers in China, enabling them to enhance their products and accelerate the growth of their startups. We believe this experience is a key step in empowering startups to progress confidently into their next stage of expansion within Sharjah. Sheraa continues to create opportunities that drive long-term progress and strengthen an ecosystem grounded in practical learning, collaboration, and sustainable growth.
Under the guidance of Aroob Al Husainan, a specialist in China–Middle East trade and supply chains, the delegation undertook a six-day curated programme of factory and market visits across Guangzhou’s most influential sourcing hubs. The itinerary included immersive tours of Zhongda Changwang Fabric and Accessories Trading Plaza, the world’s largest textile market and a cornerstone for fashion and apparel sourcing, as well as Meibo City Beauty Market, one of Asia’s leading centres for cosmetics, skincare, and packaging innovation.
Delegates also explored the Guangzhou Thirteenth Street Clothing Wholesale Market, gaining insight into fast-moving fashion cycles and supplier networks, in addition to visiting specialised facilities such as a packaging factory in Renhe Town, where founders engaged directly with manufacturers producing customised boxes, bottles, and product containers.
The mission further included targeted visits to advanced makeup and skincare production sites in Baiyun District, offering a close look at formulation, private-label manufacturing, and end-to-end product development. Collectively, these strategic on-site visits provided delegates with a comprehensive understanding of Guangzhou’s manufacturing ecosystem and its diverse opportunities across fashion, beauty, packaging, and retail supply chains.
The six-day mission also served as a powerful platform for strategic networking, connecting Sharjah’s delegates with Chinese industry executives, government representatives, and business owners. Guangzhou’s diverse ecosystem, supported by its prime location in the Greater Bay Area and world-class logistics, offered an ideal environment for forging sustainable partnerships and developing effective market entry plans.
This initiative also reflects the UAE’s strategic goal to become a global destination for entrepreneurship and sustainable economic diversification. To enhance the mission’s effectiveness, follow-up advisory sessions will ensure continued support for delegates as they finalise partnerships and assess new opportunities made during the trip to China. The mission not only deepened Sharjah’s commercial links with Guangzhou but also empowered Emirati women and startups to confidently compete in a highly demanding global marketplace.
The trade mission has strategically aligned Sharjah’s entrepreneurial community with China’s manufacturing excellence and vast consumer base, paving the way for sustained growth, innovation, and bilateral cooperation. This reinforces Sharjah’s commitment to propelling its startups and SMEs onto the world stage and solidifies its position as a strategic gateway for international commerce.
