The workshop is taking place in Kuwait City from November 23 to 27, 2025, and will involve about 30 participants from Gulf countries including Kuwait, the UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, and Oman. This event is part of UNESCO’s efforts to promote digital culture and technology. The main goal of the workshop is to help participants understand the significance of traditional food routes, which are vital for expressing the unique cultural identities of communities. It will also focus on how to document and preserve these culinary traditions for future generations.
The Regional Centre for Category II Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Arab World (ICCBICH) at the Sharjah Institute for Heritage serves as a key platform in the region. It plays an important role in training and developing initiatives that support the 2003 UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage. The Centre is dedicated to working with both local and international organizations to create ways to protect living heritage and sustain its practices in the Arab world, further establishing Sharjah as a significant player in global heritage efforts.
