Sharjah 24 – AFP: Cagliari stunned Roma, who are aiming for their first Serie A title since 2001, with a 1-0 victory in the 14th round, exploiting their numerical advantage after Roma was reduced to ten men.

Roma drops in standings

Roma, previously at the top of the table, had already lost ground to Milan and Napoli after a 1-0 home defeat to the latter. The dismissal of Turkish player Zeki Çelik in the 52nd minute further hampered the team, leaving them in fourth place with 27 points.

Inter Milan tops the table

Inter Milan remains temporarily at the top with a three-point lead following their 4-0 win over Como on Saturday. They await the outcomes of Napoli vs. Juventus and AC Milan vs. Torino to finalize the round.

Cagliari claims first win against Roma since 2021

Gianluca Gaetano scored the decisive goal in the 82nd minute after receiving a pass from Sebastiano Esposito following a corner kick. This marked Cagliari’s first victory over Roma since April 2021 and only their third win of the season, moving them to 14th place with 14 points.

Key Incident: Zeki Çelik red card

Çelik was sent off after fouling Mikael Folloroncio in the 52nd minute. The decision, reviewed by VAR, confirmed the foul occurred outside the penalty area.

Cremonese beats Lecce

Cremonese achieved their second consecutive victory and fifth of the season by defeating Lecce 2-0, temporarily rising to ninth place with 20 points, while Lecce remains in 15th place with 13 points.
