Trump: Zelensky shows limited commitment to US peace plan

Sharjah 24 – KUNA: President Donald Trump said on Sunday that he was “a little disappointed” by what he described as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s lack of commitment to a US-proposed plan aimed at ending the war with Russia.

Trump discusses peace proposal with both sides

Speaking to reporters during the 48th Annual Kennedy Center Honors, Trump revealed that he had spoken with both Russian and Ukrainian leaders regarding the peace initiative. He stated that Zelensky had not yet read the U.S. proposal, which contributed to his disappointment.

Russia reportedly open to the plan

Trump noted that Russia appeared to have no objections to the proposal but said he remained unsure whether Zelensky supported the process, despite sensing that “his people” were in favor of pursuing it.

Zelensky responds to peace negotiations

Zelensky previously described discussions with US representatives as constructive but difficult. In a televised address, he said he would consult European leaders to strengthen Ukraine’s security and defense capabilities as the war with Russia continues.
