Five dead, Including two suspects, in shooting California's Mosque

Sharjah24 - WAM: At the Islamic Centre of San Diego in California, Two teenage gunmen opened fire on Monday, killing three men outside the mosque, including a security guard, before the two suspects were later found dead from apparent self-inflicted gunshot wounds, police said.

Investigation underway

San Diego Police Chief Scott Wahl stated that all students attending the day school within the mosque complex — the largest in San Diego County — were accounted for and safe following the shooting, which occurred shortly before noon PDT (1900 GMT).

Wahl added that the FBI has joined the investigation, noting that authorities are treating the incident as a hate crime.

Security guard credited With preventing further bloodshed

Law enforcement officers responding to the Islamic Centre discovered the bodies of three men who had been shot dead outside the building, including a security guard whom Wahl credited with likely helping prevent further casualties.

Trump briefed on incident

Responding to questions during a White House press conference, President Donald Trump described the shooting as “a terrible situation,” saying he had received preliminary updates and would continue to closely monitor developments.
