The initiative took place on Thursday as part of Sharjah World Championships Week, coinciding with the final round of the UIM F1H2O World Championship, “The Road to Sharjah”, in its 24th edition. The campaign aims to reduce carbon emissions and promote environmental sustainability.
Sheikh Salem bin Mohammed bin Salem Al Qasimi, Director of the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, participated in planting a Ghaf tree during the campaign, in the presence of several officials and members of the Formula 1 team involved in the championship’s final round, which will be hosted by the emirate as part of the global sporting week.
His Excellency Ahmed Issa Al Hosani, Director General of the Sharjah International Marine Sports Club, confirmed that the Formula 1 team and participating teams in the final round have been actively involved in Ghaf tree-planting initiatives organised by SCTDA in collaboration with EPAA for over 12 years.
Speaking to Sharjah24, Al Hosani stated that the club’s involvement is part of a series of environmental initiatives aimed at protecting the environment and conserving wildlife, including coral reef cultivation, seabed clean-up campaigns, and desert tree planting.
